Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is >95% (by SDS-PAGE).
Target Information
Sca1, also known as Ly6A/E, is a member of the Ly6 multigene family of type V GPI-anchored cell surface proteins. It is expressed on multipotent hematopoietic stem cells in mouse bone marrow with both Ly6.1 and Ly6.2 allotypes.
In peripheral tissues, Sca1 expression varies between allotypes:
- Ly6.1 strains (A, BALB/c, CBA, C3H/He, DBA/1, NZB): Few Sca1⁺ resting peripheral lymphocytes
- Ly6.2 strains (AKR, C57BL, C57BR, C57L, DBA/2, PL, SJL, SWR, 129): High numbers of Sca1⁺ lymphocytes
Sca1 expression is dramatically upregulated in all strains upon cellular activation.
