Target Information
Guanylyl cyclases catalyze the production of cGMP from GTP and exist in soluble and membrane forms. Membrane guanylyl cyclases (A–F) are cell-surface receptors with an extracellular ligand-binding domain, a single transmembrane domain, and an intracellular catalytic region. GC-A and GC-B act as receptors for atrial and brain natriuretic peptides, respectively. NPR1 encodes a membrane-bound guanylate cyclase that functions as the receptor for both atrial and brain natriuretic peptides (ANP and BNP).
