This antibody recognizes the extracellular domain of the human PDGF receptor beta subunit.
Target Information
PDGFRB is a receptor tyrosine kinase implicated in atherogenesis and cell transformation by the SIS oncogene. These growth factors act as mitogens for cells of mesenchymal origin. The identity of the bound growth factor determines whether the receptor functions as a homodimer or heterodimer, composed of both PDGFR alpha and beta polypeptides. The PDGFRB gene is located on chromosome 5, near genes for granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor and macrophage-colony stimulating factor receptor, all possibly linked to 5-q syndrome. A translocation between chromosomes 5 and 12 fusing PDGFRB (CD140b) with the ETV6 leukemia gene results in chronic myeloproliferative disorder with eosinophilia.
