PA1-4257 detects the RELM alpha protein in mouse and human samples.
It has been successfully used in Western blot procedures.
By Western blot, this antibody detects a ~15 kDa protein corresponding to secreted mouse RELM alpha from the media of transfected 293T cells.
The immunizing peptide corresponds to amino acid residues 31–44 of the mouse RELM alpha protein.

Target Information

RELM alpha (Resistin-like alpha or FIZZ1) is a small cytokine (88 amino acids, MW 9.4 kDa) produced mainly by macrophages.
It is highly expressed in small peritoneal, alveolar, and adipose tissue macrophages and strongly induced by IL-4 and IL-13.
Together with Arginase 1 and Ym-1, RELM alpha is a hallmark of M2 macrophage polarization in mice.
Humans do not possess the RELM alpha gene, but human Resistin shows similar sequence, tissue distribution, and function.
Other mouse RELM family members include RELM beta, RELM gamma, and Resistin, which differ in tissue distribution and function.
RELM alpha plays key roles in parasite infection, mucosal inflammation, and allergy.
