Product Specific Information
Heat-mediated antigen retrieval is recommended prior to staining, using a 1 mM EDTA buffer (pH 8.0) for 10 minutes, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
After antigen retrieval, incubate samples with primary antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
Suggested positive control tissues: prostate or skin.
Target Information
Keratins 6 and 16 are expressed in keratinocytes undergoing rapid turnover in the suprabasal region, also known as hyperproliferation-related keratins.
Keratin 6 is found in hair follicles, suprabasal cells of various internal stratified epithelia, and epidermis, both in normal and hyperproliferative conditions.
Epidermal injury activates keratinocytes expressing CK6 and CK16.
CK6 is strongly expressed in approximately 75% of head and neck squamous cell carcinomas and is associated with differentiation.
