Target Information
Heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein (hnRNP) Q is implicated in mRNA processing mechanisms. It is a component of the CRD-mediated complex that promotes MYC mRNA stability. Isoforms 1, 2, and 3 are associated with pre-mRNA, splicing intermediates, and mature mRNA protein complexes. Isoform 1 binds to apoB mRNA AU-rich sequences and is part of the APOB mRNA editosome complex, potentially modulating post-transcriptional C to U RNA editing via interactions with A1CF, APOBEC1, or RNA itself. hnRNP Q may be involved in translationally coupled mRNA turnover and cytoplasmic mRNA decay mechanisms with other RNA-binding proteins. Isoform 3 may participate in cytoplasmic vesicle-based mRNA transport through interactions with synaptotagmins. It is also a component of the GAIT (gamma interferon-activated inhibitor of translation) complex, mediating interferon-gamma-induced transcript-selective translation inhibition during inflammation. Upon activation, the GAIT complex binds to stem-loop GAIT elements in the 3′-UTR of inflammatory mRNAs (e.g., ceruloplasmin) to suppress translation.
