Target Information

CDK5 is a member of the Cyclin-Dependent Kinase family, most abundant in the mammalian brain.
The active form of CDK5, also known as neuronal cdc2-like kinase, is a heterodimer of CDK5 and a 25 kDa protein derived from a 35 kDa neuron-specific precursor.
This complex is essential for CDK5 kinase activity and plays a crucial role in neuronal migration within the developing central nervous system.
CDK5 phosphorylates diverse substrates, regulating processes such as adhesion, motility, synaptic plasticity, and drug addiction.
