Target Information
MAP2K3 (MEK3) is a dual-specificity protein kinase involved in cellular signal transduction pathways and necessary for glucose transporter expression. It phosphorylates and activates MAPK14/p38-MAPK. Activation can occur via insulin, and RAS oncogene expression leads to constitutive activation of MAPK14, contributing to oncogenic transformation. Inhibition of MEK3 is associated with the pathogenesis of Yersinia pseudotuberculosis. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been reported.
