Target Information
The structure-specific ERCC1/XPF endonuclease complex is involved in the repair of two distinct types of DNA lesions: nucleotide excision repair (NER) for UV-induced lesions and bulky chemical adducts, and recombination repair of interstrand cross-links.
In mammalian cells, XPG cleaves the 3′ side of the lesion, while ERCC1/XPF makes the 5′ incision. This complex likely also participates in processing recombination intermediates.
