Description:
The AN-18 antibody reacts with mouse interferon-gamma (IFN-γ), a 15–20 kDa cytokine secreted by Th1 cells.

Applications Reported:
Reported for use in immunoprecipitation, ELISPOT, and ELISA.
For ELISPOT capture, use Functional Grade purified AN-18 (Product #16-7313).

Applications Tested:
Tested as capture antibody in sandwich ELISA for mouse IFN-γ detection, using biotin R4-6A2 (13-7312) for detection and recombinant mouse IFN-γ (39-8311) as standard.
Recommended capture concentration: 0.25–1 µg/mL.
Include a standard curve (200 pg/mL–1.6 pg/mL) in each ELISA plate.

Purity: Greater than 90% (SDS-PAGE)
Aggregation: Less than 10% (HPLC)
Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered

Target Information

IFN gamma (Interferon gamma, Type II interferon)
A macrophage activation factor produced by T-lymphocytes and NK cells in response to antigens and cytokines.

• Dimeric protein (~45 kDa) consisting of two 146 amino acid subunits
• Appears as 25, 20, and 15.5 kDa bands on SDS-PAGE (due to differential glycosylation)
• Highly species-specific (no cross-reactivity between human and mouse IFN-γ)
• Functions include: antiviral activity, tumor antiproliferative effects, MHC induction, macrophage activation, and enhanced B cell immunoglobulin secretion
• Acts via IFN-γ receptor I/II and JAK-STAT pathway
• Upregulated by IL-2, FGF basic, EGF; downregulated by vitamin D3 or DMN
• Mutations associated with aplastic anemia
