Product Specific Information
PA1-732 detects beta-Arrestin 2 in rat, human, and bovine samples.
It has been successfully used in Western blot procedures. By Western blot, this antibody detects ~49 kDa and ~47 kDa proteins representing pan Arrestin in rat and bovine retina as well as rat brain samples.
The PA1-732 immunogen is a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues C D(384) D I V F E D F A R L R L K(397) of human beta-arrestin 2.
This peptide (Cat. # PEP-281) is available for use in neutralization and control experiments.
Target Information
Beta-arrestin-2 (ARRB2) is an adaptor protein belonging to the arrestin family with N- and C-arrestin domains.
ARRB2 is a regulatory protein involved in heterotrimeric G protein-coupled receptor desensitization and regulates beta2-adrenergic receptor (beta2AR) function by enhancing beta2AR-mediated nuclear translocation of ERK.
ARRB2 binds to phosphorylated beta2ARs, impairing their ability to activate G(S) proteins.
Together with AIP4, ARRB2 acts as an endosomal sorting molecule mediating CXCR4 degradation.
It may also participate in hormone-specific desensitization of TSH receptors.
ARRB2 is a Ca²⁺ binding protein of retinal outer segments, binds to P-rhodopsin, and plays a role in synaptic transmission in photoreceptor cells.
It is widely expressed in most tissues, especially neuronal tissues and spleen.
