This antibody detects endogenous levels of total HMGN3 protein.
Target Information
HMGN3 binds to nucleosomes and regulates chromatin structure and chromatin-dependent processes such as transcription, DNA replication, and DNA repair. It influences insulin and glucagon levels and modulates pancreatic gene expression related to insulin secretion.
It also regulates the glucose transporter SLC2A2 by binding to its promoter region and recruiting transcription factors including PDX1.
Additionally, it controls SLC6A9 expression, affecting glycine concentration in synaptic junctions within the CNS.
HMGN3 may also play a role in ocular development and astrocyte function.
