Target Information
Visual signal transduction is mediated by a G-protein coupled cascade using cGMP as a second messenger.
This protein can be activated by cGMP, leading to the opening of a cation channel and depolarization of rod photoreceptors.
It induces flickering channel gating, weakens outward rectification in the presence of extracellular calcium, increases sensitivity to L-cis diltiazem, and enhances cAMP efficiency when coexpressed with CNGA3.
CNGB3 is essential for generating light-evoked electrical responses in red-, green-, and blue-sensitive cones.
