Target Information
CACNA2D3 is a member of the alpha-2/delta subunit family, part of the voltage-dependent calcium channel complex. These channels mediate calcium ion influx upon membrane polarization and consist of alpha-1, alpha-2/delta, beta, and gamma subunits in a 1:1:1:1 ratio.
Variants arise from similar genes or alternative splicing. Studies on a similar rabbit protein suggest cleavage into alpha-2 and delta subunits.
