Target Information

The IL1RAPL1 gene encodes a protein belonging to the interleukin 1 receptor family, similar to interleukin 1 accessory proteins. It includes an N-terminal signal peptide, three extracellular Ig-like domains, a transmembrane domain, an intracellular Toll/IL-1R domain, and a long C-terminal tail that interacts with multiple signaling molecules.
This gene is located on the X chromosome region associated with a non-syndromic form of X-linked intellectual disability. Deletions and mutations have been identified in patients with intellectual disability. It is highly expressed in postnatal brain structures involved in the hippocampal memory system, suggesting a specialized role in memory and learning processes, and contributes to synapse formation and stabilization.
