Target Information
GADD153 (also known as CHOP) is a small nuclear protein that can dimerize with transcription factors C/EBP alpha and beta. This dimer inhibits normal C/EBP binding and function, while gaining activity toward non-classical stress-related targets. Under normal conditions, expression is minimal, but it is strongly upregulated during cellular or ER stress such as tunicamycin treatment, nutrient starvation, or disruption of calcium flux across the ER membrane.
