Product Specific Information
The V9 monoclonal antibody recognizes human Vimentin, a 57 kDa intermediate filament protein expressed in cells derived from the mesenchyme and specific populations such as radial glia, immature glial cells, and pancreatic precursor cells. It is a proposed marker of cardiac differentiation. In neural cells, vimentin expression is gradually replaced by neurofilaments. Surface expression has been observed on activated macrophages, platelets, apoptotic T cells, and neutrophils.
This antibody also recognizes canine, rat, and chicken vimentin but does not recognize mouse vimentin.

Immunocytochemistry, immunohistochemistry (frozen and paraffin-embedded tissue sections).
Applications Tested:
Tested by immunofluorescent staining of paraformaldehyde-fixed and permeabilized cells. Recommended use ≤ 1 µg/mL. Titrate for optimal performance.

Target Information
Vimentin is a developmentally regulated intermediate filament protein found in cells of mesenchymal origin. It is involved in intracellular protein transport between the nucleus and plasma membrane. During development, vimentin is replaced by tissue-specific intermediate filament proteins. It is also implicated in steroid synthesis regulation through its role in lipid droplet transport to mitochondria. Phosphorylation of vimentin induces cytoskeletal changes facilitating cholesterol transport and steroid synthesis.
