Product Specific Information

This antibody detects a 60 kDa protein corresponding to c-Src on SDS-PAGE immunoblots of mouse SYF cells transformed with c-Src and human A431 cells.

Target Information

SRC is a cytoplasmic tyrosine kinase and proto-oncogene involved in the regulation of embryonic development and cell growth. It regulates growth and differentiation of eukaryotic cells and associates with cytoplasmic regions of various cell surface receptors to facilitate signal transduction. SRC also plays roles in cytoskeletal organization, cell cycle regulation, and apoptosis.

In humans, the SRC gene is located on chromosome 20. Its activity is regulated by two tyrosine residues (Tyr416 and Tyr527), with phosphorylation at Tyr416 activating and Tyr527 inhibiting the kinase. Mutations in SRC may contribute to malignant progression of colon cancer. Two transcript variants encoding the same SRC protein have been identified.
