Target Information
Plakophilin-3 is an Armadillo-like protein localized in both nuclei and desmosomes of epithelial cells. Its expression is largely restricted to epithelial tissues. It shows punctate staining along cell borders typical of desmosomal proteins and bright nuclear speckles, indicating dual localization in desmosomal plaques and nuclei. This suggests a role in signal transduction between the plasma membrane and the nucleus. The human protein has a predicted molecular mass of ~87 kDa.
