Product Specific Information

The RM2-5 monoclonal antibody reacts with the mouse CD2 molecule, an approximately 50–55 kDa cell surface receptor expressed by all mouse lymphocytes. In mice, CD2 is expressed from the pre-B cell stage to mature B cells, differing from human expression patterns. CD2 serves as a ligand for CD48 and is involved in T-cell adhesion and activation.

• In vitro blocking of mouse CD2 (LFA-2)

Applications Tested:
Validated in flow cytometric analysis of mouse splenocytes and bone marrow cells. Recommended usage ≤ 0.25 µg/test (in 100 µL final volume). Optimal concentration should be titrated empirically depending on cell count (10⁵–10⁸ cells/test).

Target Information

CD2 (LFA-2) is a monomeric surface antigen (MW 45–58 kDa) expressed on human T lymphocytes and some NK cells. It mediates adhesion between T cells and antigen-presenting cells through interaction with CD58. CD2 expression increases upon T-cell activation, enhancing cell-cell contact and adhesion. CD2 deficiency is linked to reduced intestinal inflammation and certain immune deficiencies.
