Product Specific Information

The RPA-2.10 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD2, a 50 kDa cell surface receptor expressed on most thymocytes, all mature T cells, and subsets of NK cells. CD2 binds to CD58 and plays a role in T-cell adhesion and activation. RPA-2.10 blocks mixed lymphocyte reactions and cross-reacts with non-human primates and pigs.

Applications Tested:
Validated by flow cytometric analysis of normal human peripheral blood cells. Recommended ≤ 0.5 µg per test in 100 µL final volume. Optimal titration is advised.

Target Information

CD2 (LFA-2) is a monomeric surface antigen (45–58 kDa) expressed on all peripheral blood T cells and some NK cells but not on B lymphocytes. It is among the earliest T-cell markers, present on >95% of thymocytes. CD2 interacts with CD58 to mediate adhesion between T cells and antigen-presenting cells. T-cell activation increases CD2 expression and mobility, enhancing CD58-CD2 contact and adhesion. CD2 deficiency is associated with reduced intestinal inflammation and immune dysfunction. Related diseases include penile squamous cell carcinoma and thymus-absence-related immune deficiency.
