Target Information
Casein kinase I (CKI) and casein kinase II (CKII) compose a family of serine/threonine protein kinases present in all eukaryotes. CKI family members (α, γ, ε, δ) are involved in cytoplasmic and nuclear processes such as DNA replication and repair. CKII functions as a tetrameric complex (α₂β₂ or αα′β₂), with the α catalytic subunit stimulated by the β regulatory subunit. CKII activity is high in proliferating and differentiating cells, phosphorylating over 100 substrates including nuclear oncoproteins, transcription factors, and DNA metabolism enzymes.
