The G-protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) superfamily comprises an estimated 600–1,000 members and is the largest known class of molecular targets with proven therapeutic value.
GPR22 is an orphan G-protein-coupled receptor, belonging to the class A rhodopsin-like GPCRs. It is highly expressed in several human brain regions, heart, and coronary arteries. GPR22 expression is also observed in normal pancreas and in pancreatic, colorectal, prostate, and liver cancer.
