Target Information
NAV1 belongs to the neuron navigator family and is predominantly expressed in the nervous system. The encoded protein contains coiled-coil domains and a conserved AAA domain typical of ATPases involved in various cellular activities. This gene is similar to unc-53 in Caenorhabditis elegans, which is associated with axon guidance. Although the precise function is not fully understood, NAV1 is believed to play a role in neuronal development and regeneration. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
