For reconstitution, add 100 µL distilled water to achieve a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments, perform additional desalting using Zeba Spin Desalting Columns (7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).

Target Information

Lens proteins consist almost entirely of crystallins (about 95%), which are also present in vertebrate skeletal muscle. In the lens, crystallins maintain the proper refractive index.
The mammalian lens contains three major classes of crystallins: alpha, beta, and gamma.

• Alpha-crystallin: largest class, composed of alpha-A and alpha-B gene products; comprises ~40% of total lens protein.
• Functions as a molecular chaperone, preventing protein aggregation that may lead to cataract formation.
• Phosphorylation states of alpha-crystallin may respond to cellular stress, serving structural control and protein maintenance roles.
• Alpha-B crystallin has been associated with Alexander’s disease, where it accumulates in brain cells.
