Target Information
6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenase (PGD) is the second dehydrogenase in the pentose phosphate pathway. Deficiency of this enzyme is typically asymptomatic and inherited in an autosomal dominant manner. Hemolysis may occur when both 6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenase and 6-phosphogluconolactonase are deficient, suggesting synergistic effects of these enzymopathies.
