14-3-3 epsilon은 phosphoserine을 포함하는 단백질과 결합하여 신호전달을 매개하는 14-3-3 단백질 패밀리에 속합니다. 이 단백질 패밀리는 식물과 포유류 모두에서 보존되어 있으며, 마우스 상동체와 100% 동일합니다. 14-3-3 epsilon은 CDC25 phosphatases, RAF1, IRS1 단백질과 상호작용하여 세포분열 및 인슐린 감수성 조절 등 다양한 신호전달 관련 생화학적 과정에 관여합니다. 또한 소세포 폐암의 발병과 관련이 있는 것으로 알려져 있습니다. 본 유전자는 단백질 코딩 및 비코딩 두 가지 전사 변이체를 가집니다.
