Target Information
The inhibitor of DNA binding 2 (ID2) protein is essential for the development of multiple cell types, including natural killer cells, erythroid precursors, and CD8+/CD4+ T-cells. A deficiency of ID2 promotes B-cell development.
ID2 binds to ubiquitously expressed E proteins and other basic helix-loop-helix (HLH) family proteins, preventing them from binding DNA and activating transcription. Activation of ID2 is critical for the development of the natural killer cell lineage.
