Specificity: This antibody recognises mouse cytochrome c (CYT), a component of the respiratory chain responsible for catalyzing the reduction of oxygen to water.
Target Information
Cytochrome C is an electron-transporting protein located in the mitochondrial intermembrane space, playing a critical role in oxidative phosphorylation and ATP production. Upon apoptotic stimuli, cytochrome C is released into the cytosol, where it binds to apoptotic protease activating factor, triggering activation of procaspase 9 and subsequently caspase 3, a key effector of apoptosis.
