Target Information
DNAJB14 acts as a co-chaperone with HSPA8/Hsc70 to promote protein folding, trafficking, and prevent aggregation of client proteins. It is involved in the ER-associated degradation (ERAD) pathway and regulates HSPA8/Hsc70 ATPase and binding activities.
Additionally, together with DNAJB12, it assists in the maturation of potassium channels (KCND2, KCNH2) by stabilizing nascent subunits and assembling them into tetramers.
When overexpressed, DNAJB14 forms nuclear membranous structures (DJANGOs) with DNAJB12 and HSPA8/Hsc70, though their function remains unclear.
