Target Information
DGCR8 encodes a subunit of the microprocessor complex that mediates microRNA biogenesis from primary microRNA transcripts. The encoded protein acts as a double-stranded RNA binding protein and functions as the non-catalytic subunit of the complex, facilitating RNA cleavage by Drosha. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
