Target Information
Fibulin 5 is essential for elastic fiber formation and is involved in the assembly of continuous elastin (ELN) polymer. It promotes interaction between microfibrils and ELN, stabilizing and organizing elastic fibers in the skin, lung, and vasculature.
Additionally, it promotes adhesion of endothelial cells through interaction with integrins and the RGD motif. Fibulin 5 acts as a vascular ligand for integrin receptors, playing a role in vascular development and remodeling.
