Target Information
The ADAM28 gene encodes a member of the ADAM (a disintegrin and metalloprotease domain) family. These membrane-anchored proteins are structurally related to snake venom disintegrins and are involved in various biological processes such as:
- Cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions
- Fertilization
- Muscle development
- Neurogenesis
This protein is expressed in lymphocytes. Alternative splicing produces two transcript variants:
- A secreted isoform (shorter version)
- A transmembrane isoform (longer version)
