Target Information
Nuclear factor kB p65 (NF-kB p65) is encoded by the RELA gene and is located on chromosome 11 in humans. NF-kB p65, also known as RelA, belongs to the Rel family of proteins and forms a heterodimer with p50 or p52 subunits. Upon TNF alpha stimulation, IKK is phosphorylated, leading to phosphorylation and proteasomal degradation of IκB, thereby releasing NF-kB for nuclear translocation. NF-kB p65 plays a key role in transcriptional regulation, particularly of the immunoglobulin κ gene in mature B-lymphoid cells.
