Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity-chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is >95% (by SDS-PAGE).
Target Information
Eight distinct classes of soluble cytoplasmic mammalian glutathione S-transferases have been identified: alpha, kappa, mu, omega, pi, sigma, theta, and zeta.
GSTM2 belongs to the mu class, which functions in the detoxification of electrophilic compounds—including carcinogens, therapeutic drugs, environmental toxins, and oxidative stress products—by conjugation with glutathione.
The mu class genes are organized in a cluster on chromosome 1p13.3 and are highly polymorphic, influencing individual susceptibility to toxins and drug response.
