Target Information
Nuclear transport receptors of the karyopherin/importin-beta superfamily mediate various transport pathways between the nucleus and cytoplasm.
Exportin-4 is a novel mammalian member of this family and a RanGTP-binding protein containing an N-terminal RanGTP-binding motif.
It functions as a nuclear export receptor for eIF-5A and may also serve as an export adapter in RNA export.
Additionally, it is involved in the nuclear export of Smad3 and regulation of Smad signaling.
