Product Specific Information

This AMC908 monoclonal antibody reacts with the human CD8a molecule, a 32–34 kDa cell surface receptor expressed as a heterodimer with CD8 beta (CD8αβ) or as a homodimer (CD8αα). CD8a is expressed on most thymocytes and a subset of mature T cells and NK cells. CD8 binds MHC class I and associates with tyrosine kinase p56lck, playing a key role in T-cell development and activation.

Applications Reported: Suitable for immunohistochemical staining of formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissues.
Applications Tested: Tested on human tissue using low pH antigen retrieval; optimal at ≤5 µg/mL.
Excitation/Emission: 488 nm / 519 nm (Blue Laser).
Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.


Target Information

Cluster of differentiation 8 (CD8) is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein of the immunoglobulin family involved in T-cell signal transduction and activation. It forms heterodimers (CD8αβ) on T cells, acting as a co-receptor for MHC class I molecules. CD8 also exists as homodimers (CD8αα) on subsets of T cells, NK cells, monocytes, and dendritic cells. Binding of MHC-I/peptide complexes recruits Lck kinase, leading to cytokine production and cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) activation. Activated CTLs are essential for pathogen and tumor cell clearance. Differentiation of naive CD8+ T cells into CTLs is enhanced by IL-2, IL-12, and TGF-β1.
