Product Specific Information

The 1B1 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse CD1d, a 48 kDa glycoprotein structurally homologous to MHC class I molecules. CD1d associates with β2-microglobulin (β2m) and functionally resembles MHC class II.
1B1 detects CD1d at varying levels on mouse leukocytes and recognizes β2m-associated CD1d.

Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Flow cytometric analysis of mouse splenocytes at ≤1 µg/test.
A test is defined as the amount of antibody sufficient to stain a sample in 100 µL final volume (typically 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test). Optimal titration is recommended.

Target Information

CD1d is a heavy chain associated with β2-microglobulin on cortical thymocytes. It can also be expressed independently on human intestinal epithelial cells.
CD1d is the sole group 2 member of the CD1 family of MHC-like glycoproteins. The CD1d gene encodes a transmembrane glycoprotein structurally related to MHC proteins, forming heterodimers with β2-microglobulin.
These proteins present lipid and glycolipid antigens of self or microbial origin to T cells.
Human CD1 family genes are located on chromosome 1 and differ in localization and lipid ligand specificity.
CD1d localizes to late endosomes and lysosomes via a tyrosine-based motif in its cytoplasmic tail.
Diseases associated with CD1D include Mycobacterium malmoense infection and autoimmune diseases.
