- The immunogen shows 67% (12/18) homology to the SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) Spike protein.
- Cross-reactivity has not been empirically tested.

Target Information
SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) is caused by a human coronavirus. Human coronaviruses are major causes of upper respiratory tract illness, such as the common cold. These viruses are positive-stranded RNA viruses with large genomes (27–31 kb). Infection begins with binding of the viral spike protein (~139 kDa) to host cell receptors. The spike protein is the main surface antigen of the coronavirus. The glycosylated spike protein and nucleocapsid protein can be detected in infected cell culture supernatants using antisera from SARS patients.
