Product Specific Information

This product is preservative-free. It is recommended to add sodium azide to avoid contamination (final concentration 0.05%–0.1%).

Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. The expression systems are developed by cloning specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits, followed by screening of individual clones to select optimal candidates for production.

Advantages of recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies:

  • Better specificity and sensitivity
  • Lot-to-lot consistency
  • Animal origin-free formulation
  • Broader immunoreactivity due to the large rabbit immune repertoire

This antibody has specificity for Human CD3e/CD3 epsilon.

Target Information

The CD3 subunit complex is crucial for transducing antigen-recognition signals into the cytoplasm of T cells and regulating surface expression of the TCR complex. T cell activation through the antigen receptor (TCR) involves the cytoplasmic tails of CD3 gamma, delta, epsilon, and zeta subunits.

These CD3 subunits are structurally related members of the immunoglobulin superfamily encoded by closely linked genes on human chromosome 11. CD3 components have long cytoplasmic tails that associate with signal transduction molecules via a double tyrosine-based motif. CD3 may play roles in TCR-induced growth arrest, cell survival, and proliferation.

The CD3 antigen is expressed on:

  • 68–82% of normal peripheral blood lymphocytes
  • 65–85% of thymocytes
  • Purkinje cells in the cerebellum

It is not expressed on B or NK cells. Decreased T lymphocyte percentages may occur in some autoimmune diseases. Genes encoding CD3 epsilon, gamma, and delta are located on chromosome 11. Defects in the CD3 gene are associated with CD3 immunodeficiency.
