Product Specific Information
This product is preservative-free. It is recommended to add sodium azide to avoid contamination (final concentration 0.05%–0.1%).
Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. These systems clone specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits, and individual clones are screened to select optimal candidates for production.
Advantages include:
- Enhanced specificity and sensitivity
- Lot-to-lot consistency
- Animal origin-free formulation
- Broader immunoreactivity due to larger rabbit immune repertoire
This antibody specifically recognizes Human CD40/TNFRSF5/Bp50.
Target Information
The CD40 antigen is a single-chain glycoprotein belonging to the tumor necrosis factor/nerve growth factor superfamily, showing significant homology to the Hodgkin’s disease-associated antigen CD30.
CD40 is expressed on all B cells except plasma cells, and also found on certain epithelial cells, carcinomas, and lymphoid dendritic cells. It plays a key role in mediating immune and inflammatory responses including:
- T cell-dependent immunoglobulin class switching
- Memory B cell development
- Germinal center formation
AT-hook transcription factor AKNA regulates CD40 expression, influencing cell interactions. Adaptor protein TNFR2 interacts with CD40 to mediate signal transduction.
The CD40-CD40L interaction is necessary for amyloid-beta-induced microglial activation, an early event in Alzheimer’s disease pathogenesis.
Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been reported.
Diseases associated with CD40 dysfunction include Type 3 Hyper-IgM immunodeficiency and CD40 ligand deficiency.
For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Not for resale without express authorization.
