Product Specific Information

Anti-Alkaline Phosphatase is an IgG fraction antibody purified from monospecific antiserum by a multi-step process including delipidation, salt fractionation, and ion exchange chromatography followed by extensive dialysis against the specified buffer.
Assay by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against anti-Rabbit Serum as well as purified and partially purified Alkaline Phosphatase (Calf Intestine).
Cross-reactivity against Alkaline Phosphatase from other tissues and species may occur but has not been specifically determined.
Target Information
Alkaline phosphatase is a homodimeric enzyme (~86 kDa) containing two zinc atoms per monomer, essential for catalytic function, and is optimally active at alkaline pH.
It is found in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes, performing similar functions with structural adaptations to each organism.
ALP plays a role in liver metabolism and skeletal development, acts as a source of inorganic phosphate in bacteria, and serves as a useful protein for studying membrane protein sorting in yeast.
