Target Information
The EEF1D gene encodes a subunit of the elongation factor-1 complex, which is responsible for the enzymatic delivery of aminoacyl tRNAs to the ribosome.
This subunit functions as a guanine nucleotide exchange factor and has been reported to interact with HIV-1 Tat, repressing translation of host-cell mRNAs while not affecting HIV-1 mRNAs.
Several alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding multiple isoforms have been identified for this gene.
