Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) family, which regulates various cellular processes such as growth, differentiation, mitotic cycle, and oncogenic transformation.
This receptor-type PTP contains extracellular, transmembrane, and intracellular catalytic domains.
In mouse, the similar gene is predominantly expressed in the brain and regulates MAP kinase activity and localization.
The rat counterpart is regulated by nerve growth factor, suggesting its role in neuronal growth and differentiation.
