Target Information

CHD5 (Chromodomain helicase DNA binding protein 5) is a member of the SNF2/RAD54 helicase family of chromatin remodeling and DNA-binding proteins (CDH proteins). It is heavily expressed in both fetal and adult brain, playing a crucial role in nervous system development and acting as a tumor suppressor via the Arf/p53 pathway.
CHD5, along with other chromodomain proteins, forms remodeling complexes such as NuRD that promote normal neuroblast maturation and prevent overexpression of neuronal cells. Disruptions in these complexes can maintain cells in a proliferative state, leading to tumor formation.
Deletions in the CHD5 gene are commonly found in neuroblastomas, suggesting that CHD5 deficiency may contribute to malignant transformation and metastasis.
