TGFBR1는 TGFBR1 슈퍼패밀리에 속하는 막관통성 세린/트레오닌 키나아제로, ACVR 및 BMPR을 포함합니다. TGF-β 결합 시 TGFBR2가 TGFBR1을 인산화하여 SMAD 단백질의 하류 인산화를 유도합니다. TGFBR1은 type II TGF-β 수용체와 이합체를 형성하여 신호를 세포 표면에서 세포질로 전달합니다. 이 단백질은 세린/트레오닌 단백질 키나아제로, Loeys-Dietz 대동맥류 증후군(LDAS)과 관련된 변이가 보고되었습니다.
