Product Specific Information
Antibody detects endogenous levels of BCLAF1 only when phosphorylated at S512.
Target Information
BCLAF1 is an intracellular, death-promoting transcriptional repressor of survival genes that interacts with several members of the BCL2 family of proteins. It shows homology to the basic leucine zipper (bZIP) and MYB DNA-binding domains.
In apoptotic cells, BCLAF1 localizes to dot-like structures throughout the nucleus and redistributes near the nuclear envelope. Overexpression induces apoptosis, which can be suppressed by co-expression of BCL2 proteins. Also known as BTF, it triggers a proapoptotic signal potentially helpful to overcome resistance to STI571. BCLAF1 is expressed mainly in skeletal muscles.
