Store vial at 4°C prior to restoration. For extended storage, aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing. Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature. This product is stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.

Assay by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against anti-rabbit serum, purified and partially purified Catalase (Bovine Liver). Cross-reactivity against Catalase from other tissues and species may occur but has not been specifically determined.

Target Information

Catalase is a homotetrameric heme-containing enzyme present within the matrix of all peroxisomes. It catalyzes the dismutation of hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen. Human catalase has the last four amino acids (-KANL) at the C-terminus for peroxisome targeting. The monomer of human catalase is 61.3 kDa. Catalase plays a key role in inflammation, mutagenesis, apoptosis prevention, and tumor stimulation. Loss of catalase activity leads to acatalasemia (Takahara’s disease).
