• Assay by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against anti-rabbit serum, purified and partially purified Carboxypeptidase A [Bovine Pancreas].
• Cross-reactivity against Carboxypeptidase A from other tissues and species may occur but have not been specifically determined.

Target Information

CPA1 (Carboxypeptidase A1), also known as CPA, is a 419 amino acid secreted monomeric protein highly expressed in pancreatic tissue. It functions as a pancreatic exopeptidase using zinc as a cofactor to catalyze the release of C-terminal amino acids from proteins, playing a key role in protein digestion and degradation. CPA1 may also participate in zymogen inhibition, blocking enzyme activation pathways. Abnormal CPA1 levels are associated with pancreatic cancer, suggesting involvement in tumor progression or suppression.
