BLAST analysis indicates broad reactivity with beta actin from various vertebrates and some yeast species, making it an excellent loading control.
Target Information
Beta actin is one of six actin isoforms identified in humans. It is a non-muscle cytoskeletal protein involved in cell motility, structure, and integrity. Beta and gamma actins coexist in most cell types as cytoskeletal components.
Actins polymerize from globular (G-actin) to filamentous (F-actin) forms, forming a two-stranded helix structure.
Due to its ubiquitous expression in eukaryotic cells, beta actin is widely used as a loading control in protein detection assays such as Western blotting.
Antibodies to beta actin are valuable tools for studying intracellular distribution and cytoskeletal dynamics.
